Luminous Layers, a body of work planned and created in 2010 for San Diego International Airport art program explores themes of connection, loss, growth, strength, resilience and metamorphosis as they relate to the natural world. I am inspired by the visceral, tactile and spontaneous character of encaustic. I create paintings, sculptures and artist books that speak to my relationship to nature and to the colonies of bees that I consider collaborators in my process.
