Impressed with Wax — Basic Encaustic Techniques
Explore the magical world of encaustic painting and discover a lost art that has captivated painters for over 2000 years. The transparent and luminous effects of encaustic is often what captures the attention of artists. Encaustic means to “burn or heat” and comes from the Greek, enkaustikos. During this 6-hour workshop in a unique outdoor home studio you will learn the history of encaustic, safe practices, use of equipment, resources, and basic techniques for encaustic painting that includes incising, photo transfer and collage.

$185 includes six hours of instruction, use of equipment and all supplies. You will leave with many examples of your own encaustic work and a day filled with many artistic possibilities.

Bring 4-6 wood panels no larger than 10x10 inches and toner-based images of your choice.

Beneath the Surface—Advanced Encaustic
For students who are familiar with basic encaustic techniques and want to explore this medium in more depth. $185 includes five hours of exploring the limitless possibilities encaustic offers through transferring of images onto a surface, mono printing, texturing, scraping and mixing encaustic pigments.
Supply list: Bring 4-6 wood panels no larger than 12x12 inches and black and white or color toner-based images of your choice.

Encaustic Vessels: Playing with Wax, Paper and Fiber
$200 includes 4 hours of instruction creating your own vessel with wax, paper, fabric, natural fibers, embellishments. Class limited to one or two students. Most materials included.

Wax and Photo Image Transfers
$70 includes two hours focusing on the transferring of images onto an encaustic surface using encaustic medium and encaustic pigment. Bring 3-5 wood panels no larger than 10x10 inches and several toner-based black and white or color images of your choice.

Encaustic Practice Sessions
Do you have an idea brewing or a project that you want to refine and finish?
Work on your own project where you will receive guidance and individual attention in a supportive environment.
$35 per hour includes use of equipment and encaustic medium and pigments.

Mixed Media Collage I
In this 3- hour introductory class you will be encouraged as you learn to place interesting papers, photographs, fabrics, textures, words and other images on a sturdy support as you learn about form, focus and adhesives. This is a great class to take if you need to jumpstart your creative juices. You will leave energized with new ideas and your 11x14 collage ready to mat and frame.
Three-hour class, $65 includes materials. Individual or group classes.


Mixed Media Collage II
In this 3-hour class you will learn interesting texture techniques using various tools, acrylic paint, gesso, gel medium, tissue paper, and collage. Bring a pad of 140# watercolor paper 11x14 or canvas boards. Individual or group classes.
Three-hour class, $75 includes materials.
